How to build an Antique Crate

Supplies:
1- 5/8” x 5 1/2” x 6′ cedar fence picket
1- 5/8″ x 3 1/2” x 6′ cedar fence picket
1- 1” round wood dowel
1 1/2” finish nails
Nail Gun
jigsaw
Miter Saw or Circular Saw
Wood Glue
stain/paint for desired finish
Cut List:
2- 5/8” x 5 1/2” x 13” Tall Sides (see below for jigsaw cuts)
1- 5/8” x 5 1/2” x 15” Bottom
2- 5/8” x 3 1/2” x 16” Long Sides
1- 1” dowel cut to 15” Handle
Step 1: Cut tall sides with a jigsaw
Once you have cut all your boards to the correct length, take a jigsaw and cut your tall sides as shown below.
Step 2: Attach tall sides to bottom
Using wood glue and 1 1/2” finish nails attach the tall sides to the bottom board.
Step 3- Add dowel handle
Attach the dowel to the top of your tall sides with wood glue and 2” finish nails. Or you can pre-drill holes and attach with a 1 1/2” screw on both sides.
Step 4- Add long sides
Add the long sides with wood glue and 1 1/2” finish nails making sure to nail into the sides and bottom.
Step 5- Finish as desired and Enjoy!
