Tween Girls Room Inspiration

It’s baaaaacccckkk!
The one room challenge.  And I am in like flynn.
I know right?!  So this time around I am doing my daughter’s room because…I promised her basically two years ago I would do it.  Oops.  Yep, I’m a slacker. (head hung in shame)
Not anymore!  Today’s the day…er month, I redeem myself.  I am so stinkin’ excited you guys!  Check out the inspiration we came up with!

I think she has pretty good taste if I do say so myself.  While I will be doing a huge chunk of the work, my daughter is putting in some work too because obviously it is her room and I want her to like it and have ownership of her space.

The colors she decided on are a light pink (because hot pink is now for little girls and she is 12 now), gray, and a pretty minty color. (like my technical color names?)
Before I get too far ahead of myself let’s look at the before pictures cause…well…we definitely have our work cut out for us.

This is a shot of the room as you walk in the door.  It is clear there has been zero effort to actually decorate this space in any cohesive manner.
Before of bed in girls room, MyLove2Create One Room Challenge Week 1
The bed is one half of a bunk bed set which one of my older son’s has across the hall.  It is going to be replaced.
I was lamenting to my co-worker about the awkward size of this space and it’s layout.  With really only two good walls to work with and the narrowness of the room it is hard to put a bed in and make it look good in any design.  My brilliant friend (and co-worker) suggested a daybed, and suddenly the stars aligned and the room started to take shape in my mind.  It was an electric moment, seriously.  And Jenni gets credit for inspiring it!

Moving around the room we come to this.  There are a lot of projects in this room I have done, but at random times, the Mirror on the wall is one example, it was actually one of the first when I started my blog, many years ago.
Girls closet before, MyLove2Create One Room Challenge Week 1
The closet will be my first project, and thank goodness too, it really needs a facelift.
I aspire to be organized, and closets are a perfect place to start.  You can see my other closet makeovers here.  Yep, totally a happy place for me…an organized closet.

We will end the room tour here.  I know, not much to say.  The plan for this wall is a small desk and maybe a hanging chair…we will see how things progress.
I made the sunburst mirror made from blinds (although it has had a new paint job), and the Cabinet doors into Children’s Desk.  Both projects I loved making, but it is time for something exciting and new!
This should be a fun, and I am excited to have you follow along!  Here is the link to the One Room Challenge so you can see all the other rooms being conquered!
